The appointment of a new Director of Music in January 2010 signalled the start of an ambitious plan to re-build a musical tradition at the church. Additional choirmembers are extremely welcome in all voice parts, particularly gentlemen. Music reading skills aren't essential, but a willingness to learn is! If you read music, this is an added bonus and good sight readers are equally as welcome!
The Priest-in-charge of St. Ives, Fr. Andrew Gough and members of the Parochial Church Council are keen to encourage an active programme of music making at the church.
The mixed voice adult choir sings at the 9.30am Parish Mass on Sundays and other services as on the termly choir diary including a monthly Choral Evensong. Evensong is sung weekly between Easter and September.
Worship is Anglo-Catholic in style with incense, vestments and vibrant liturgy with full ceremonial. The music is very much traditional in style using "New English Hymnal", a sung mass setting and regular anthems and motets. There are no plans to change this.
